The Julia Hotel is making waves in the art world as well as the hotel industry. Attention to fine detail has been spent on the interior as well as our hospitality. With gorgeous and creative spaces, The Julia Hotel is a piece of art.
Seattle Architect, Interior designer, and educator Stephen Busto has been creating award-winning spaces for over 22 years. Creating cutting edge commercial projects for an impressive list of domestic and international clients. Stephen’s work blurs the boundaries between art, architecture, and design, in attention to detail, and a site-specific inclusion of art and artifact. The Julia is an excellent example of his work, with each room having a unique design and message. You will feel part of a luxury hotel but also in the middle of a beautiful art museum.
The Julia features art installations throughout the hotel starting in the lobby and following you to your room. Each piece of art has a message to be seen and interpreted. A big inspiration for The Julia Hotel is the Mother of Miami. Julia Tuttle was an American businesswoman who is widely responsible for the land that Miami, Florida was built. A shell-encrusted bust of Julia Tuttle herself, by Florida artist; Victoria Kerala adorns the reception desk. The property steps back in time to grand old Miami and feels as if you are entering into the private property of the proclaimed Miami founder. In the lobby, mysterious paint dipped Tuttle family portrait gallery illustrates a surreal portrait of an imagined Grande Dame of Miami, to the collection of mid-century art in the feature staircase. The Julia Hotel incorporates the rich history of Miami in a modern and intriguing way.
The storytelling continues in the guest rooms with paper cutouts in the style of Matisse, by Canadian artist, Edward Bader, featuring faceless vacationers floating in serene pools of color. The five featured two story Ibis rooms each have different installations in their twenty-foot tall ceilings. One room creates a swarm of Miami blue butterflies by Kiyoto paper artist Yumiko, and another features parasols dreamily floating away on an imagined Miami tropical breeze. The rooms are a place for you to escape and dream. A place for you to brainstorm and create. Venture out and find inspiration in Miami.
The Julia Hotel is far from average. With original artwork and gorgeous interior design, our Luxury Hotel is unlike any other. Whether you are looking for a staycation to recharge and find inspiration for your latest works or you need time off to enjoy with your friends, The Julia Hotel will be your next favorite destination spot. The Julia is excited to open in July and be your getaway with the promise of escape and relaxation.
